The importance of the international community playing its role in achieving a ceasefire and protecting civilians in light of the escalation of military operations was also emphasized, according to the statement. The minister appreciated Ireland's clear positions in calling for an end to the aggression on Gaza, and its standing by the Palestinian people. The call also touched on reviewing bilateral relations and ways to develop them in various fields, with an emphasis on exchanging bilateral visits between the two countries in the near future. Hussein pointed out the need to reopen the Irish embassy in Iraq.
