Fisheries Ministry condemned the aggressive American moves that threaten maritime security and the activity of Yemeni fishermen in the territorial waters of Yemen Republic. The Ministry indicated in a statement received by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) that the American coalition to protect Israeli ships in territorial waters is using force and threats through its warships to prevent Yemeni fishermen from exercising their legitimate right to fish, which poses a threat to their lives and their source of livelihood. It pointed to the difficult circumstances and tragic conditions experienced by about thirty thousand Yemeni fishermen who depend on fishing as their primary source of income, as a result of the continuous violations and abuses to which they are exposed by the forces and ships of the aggression against Yemen. Fisheries Ministry confirmed that these hostile practices in Yemeni territorial waters represent a flagrant violation of international law, human rights ,have disastrous effects on the reali ty of fishermen ,the security ,safety of marine life and the environment. The ministry reminded everyone of the involvement of foreign forces in depleting and plundering fish stocks, committing many violations and arrests against fishermen in territorial waters, which led to a decline in stocks and fishermen's wages during aggression years . The statement called for an immediate cessation of these practices and the protection of the rights of fishermen. It called on the international community and human rights organizations to condemn the violations against Yemeni fishermen and take measures to stop them, in a way that guarantees the safety and security of fishermen , enables them to fish and restore their livelihoods threatened by foreign ships. The Ministry called on the international community to support Yemen's efforts to protect its environment and marine wealth. Source: Yemen News Agency
