Finnish Minister of Foreign Trade and Development Affirms to QNA Finland’s Aspiration to Enhance Cooperation with Qatar

HE Minister for Foreign Trade and Development of the Republic of Finland Ville Tavio affirmed his country's aspiration to enhance cooperation with the State of Qatar in various fields, indicating that the visit of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to Finland contributes to achieving good results for both countries. His Excellency said in an interview with Qatar News Agency that he hopes that trade exchange between the two countries will witness further growth in the coming period, indicating that the trade surplus between the two countries is currently in favor of the Qatari side. He added that Qatari-Finnish relations hold significant future potential. He expressed satisfaction with the current bilateral trade cooperation and optimism about further growth in various sectors, such as information and communication technology, healthcare, renewable energy, and beyond. Regarding the development of new frameworks for enhancing sustainability initiatives in Qatar and Finland, HE Minister for Foreign Tr ade and Development of the Republic of Finland explained that both countries have set climate goals and have visions on how to move towards a clean future and a cleaner environment, expressing his country's readiness to share its technologies and expertise in these fields with other countries, which contributes to achieving the climate goals that these countries seek. He pointed out that the presence of direct flights between Doha and Helsinki contributed to achieving better results in terms of trade between the two countries, and this was positively reflected in the diversity of companies and employees, pointing out that this is the key to developing Qatari-Finnish cooperation relations. His Excellency said that there were about 20 Finnish companies are operating in the State of Qatar in many sectors, such as information and communications technology, education, and various technologies, noting that the presence of these companies paves the way for more other companies, especially those with distinctive id eas in various fields, which contributes to enhancing investments between the two countries. His Excellency explained that his country seeks to achieve the sustainable development goals set by the United Nations, but achieving these goals requires more private funding, noting that cooperation in achieving the sustainable development goals between countries is the future we seek, as countries can cooperate more when looking for shares in various development projects. HE Minister for Foreign Trade and Development of the Republic of Finland Ville Tavio concluded his interview with QNA by affirming the importance of linking commercial and private financing more closely to development projects, and this is the basic principle on which his country's vision stems, based on studies conducted on trade and development, pointing out that Finland looks forward to working with various partners to achieve this.
