Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan confirmed that the current international system no longer meets the needs of humanity and is "bankrupt", stressing that Turkey will continue to make proposals on the work of the global system for change. This came in a speech by Fidan during a special session organized by the Turkish Center for Political, Economic and Social Studies (SETA) in the capital Ankara last night entitled / Future Turkish Foreign Policy: Vision, Goals and Transformation /. In his speech, Fidan pointed to the importance of the influence of think tanks on foreign policy, stressing that the integration between theory and practice plays a crucial role and that theory and practice must be constantly intertwined, and that cooperation between public institutions and think tanks should be strengthened. Fidan stressed in particular that Turkey must create its own unique model in the field of international relations. In response to a question about the kind of vision that Turkish foreign policy is prepa ring for the new century, Fidan said that Turkey has achieved great successes in the fields of economy, defense and technology in the past 22 years, and that these achievements form the basis of the new century. Pointing to examples of Turkey's policies in Africa, Fidan stated that his country is advancing with a unique approach in relations with other civilizations, explaining that when comparing Turkey's foreign policy in Africa with the policies of other countries, the difference will become clearer. Referring to the developments in Palestine and Lebanon, Fidan said that the war launched by Israel after October 7 "has now reached the point of being recognized as genocide by all international institutions and circles." Fidan said that the world now sees that there is "such a genocide" in Gaza, and that this genocide is a factor that will forever change the definition and discussion of the Palestinian issue. The Turkish Foreign Minister stressed that the two-state solution is the most realistic way, and that Western countries cannot exert the necessary pressure on Israel on this issue. Fidan also criticized the West's silence regarding Israel's practices in Palestine, and called for the need to reform the international system.
