Amman: President of the European Council Charles Michel Wednesday called for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, the release of detainees and respect for international law. According to a statement carried by the France 24: "We support the entry of basic food and health supplies into the Gaza Strip, and international humanitarian law must be respected everywhere," noting that the occupation of the West Bank is illegal. Michel added that the Council supports UN efforts to bring aid and vaccines into Gaza as contacts have been made with the Israeli government to allow them entry.
