Egyptian President Warns against Expansion of Conflict in the Region

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi warned that developments in the region could lead to an expansion of the conflict in a way that would affect stability, stating that the current conflict will lead to dire consequences in the region and perhaps in the entire world. In a speech during the graduation ceremony of a new batch from the Police Academy, El Sisi added that Egypt has lost between 50 and 60 percent of the Suez Canal's income, worth more than USD 6 billion, during the past eight months, as a result of the dangerous developments in the region. He explained that the region and the world are facing tough challenges, emphasizing his country's commitment to a balanced, moderate, and objective policy in response to the ongoing situations on Egypt's western, southern, and eastern borders, which have been under international scrutiny for about a year. The Egyptian president said that his country manages its affairs in a way that preserves it and the region without getting involved in matters that may a ffect security and stability in the region and in Egypt.
