An earthquake measuring five on the Richter scale hit on Thursday the Bone Bolango Regency-Gorontalo area on the Indonesian island of Sulawesi. The epicenter of the earthquake occurred 73 km southeast of Gorontalo province, at a depth of 129 km, Indonesia Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency said in a statement. There have been no reports of material damage or deaths due to the earthquake so far. Earthquakes regularly strike different parts of Indonesia as it is located on the Pacific belt known as the "Ring of Fire," where many tectonic plates meet and cause frequent volcanic and seismic activity.
