Dujarric Calls for Wide-Scale Delivery of Humanitarian Aid to Gaza

Geneva: United Nations spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric stressed on Monday the urgent need to allow humanitarian workers to deliver life-saving assistance at scale throughout the Gaza Strip. He emphasized the necessity of unhindered access for aid to ensure the wellbeing of the region's residents. According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Dujarric highlighted during the daily press conference at the organization's headquarters in Geneva that to prevent deaths due to food shortages, humanitarian workers must be able to deliver food on a large and sustained scale through all available crossings and roads. This effort aims to reach the Strip's 2.1 million people, half of whom are children. Dujarric expressed concern over the Israeli authorities' announcement of an imminent expansion of their military activities in Gaza City. He noted that expanding operations to occupy all of Gaza City could lead to the displacement of thousands of people once again to a densely populated area in the southern Ga za Strip, which lacks essential infrastructure and services such as food, water, and medical care.
