Finland Awaits Optimal Timing to Recognize State of Palestine

Finland: Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen stated that Finland is waiting for the right moment to recognize the state of Palestine.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, this announcement aligns with earlier remarks from Finnish President Alexander Stubb, who expressed his willingness to endorse the recognition of Palestine if an official proposal is submitted by his government. Stubb criticized the situation in the Gaza Strip.

Stubb also highlighted in a post on X that decisions by countries such as France, Canada, and the United Kingdom are contributing to the momentum toward recognizing Palestine. He indicated that this move is part of broader efforts to revive the peace process.

Several Western nations, including France, Canada, and the United Kingdom, are advancing toward recognizing the state of Palestine, especially in anticipation of the upcoming United Nations General Assembly session. Finland has aligned itself with these countries, advocating for an immediate ceasefire and the establishment of humanitarian channels.
