The head of the security committee in Basra Provincial Council, Aqeel Al-Furaiji, said in a statement: "A police detachment arrested a drug dealer late last night after chasing him and wounding him during an exchange of fire." He added: "A Kalashnikov rifle and a pistol were seized from the accused, in addition to a quantity of crystal, narcotic pills, prohibited substances, a sum of money and various SIM cards," noting that "the accused was transferred to the hospital.
