DOHA, The 8th and 24th meetings of committees of GCC Education Ministers and Higher Education and Scientific Research Ministers respectively were held in Doha, with Kuwait partaking. Speaking in the eighth meeting, Qatar's Minister of Education and Higher Education Buthaina Al-Nuaimi said the gathering discusses some key topics regarding the directives of GCC leaders that include the Riyadh Declaration of the 42nd session of GCC Supreme Council on boosting international cooperation and Al-Ula Declaration for the 41st session on education during crises. Such declarations show the joint future vision of the GCC leaders and much attention paid to develop education in "our" countries, she said, referring to the connection between education future, and the ability to share expertise and develop capabilities. Meanwhile, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Al-Budaiwi said the GCC founders and the current leaders have paid much attention, since the council's establishment, to enhance the joint Gulf action in education for wider horizons to keep pace with developments and methods of education in the entire world. He highlighted that the GCC leaders believe firmly that the real wealth is in youth and realize that education is the main pillar to build and develop societies. Investing in education is an investment in the future to ensure rehabilitating aware generations to work effectively in all fields, he noted. He said that the agenda of the eighth meeting has several vital topics, including the concept of international cooperation in education and the Supreme Council's resolutions. Speaking at the 24th meeting, Al-Nuaimi said it contains discussion on some issues like the committee's strategic projects, permanent recommendations, innovation, digital transformation, cybersecurity and the Gulf network recommendations. These topics show keenness of "our countries" to develop action system, and scientific research and investing in innovation for development and making "our" universities to b e distinguished globally, she indicated. Al-Budaiwi also stressed the need of joint action to enhance Higher Education outputs in the GCC states as they play a great role in creating the future of "our countries" and implementing strategies as well as meeting ambition. Representing Kuwait's Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr. Adel Al-Adwani, Acting Undersecretary of Higher Education and Scientific Research Ministry Lamia al-Melhem invited the minsters to attend the 25th and ninth committees to be hosted by Kuwait in May 2025.
