Doha Forum (DF) and the World Humanitarian Forum (WHF) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today to enhance the role of humanitarian diplomacy through closer collaboration and dialogue. The MoU was signed ahead of a high level panel discussion, entitled "Addressing Global Crises: The Role of Humanitarian Diplomacy in a Fragmented Era", held at the UK's Houses of Parliament. The event brought together influential leaders and experts to discuss the urgent need for effective humanitarian strategies to address global crises in today's increasingly fragmented world. In this regard, HE Executive Director of Doha Forum, Mubarak Al Kuwari said that, "this collaboration demonstrates the shared commitment of Doha Forum and the World Humanitarian Forum to tacking today's global challenges through meaningful dialogue and strategic cooperation on humanitarian issues." For her part, Doha Forum General Manager, Maha Al Kuwari said that, "humanitarian diplomacy plays a crucial role in bridging divides, fostering und erstanding, and finding actionable solutions. Doha Forum embraces this opportunity to engage in dialogue with global leaders and experts to explore how we can work together to build a better future for all." In her opening speech during the panel discussion, CEO of the WHF, Feraye Ozfescioglu, said that, "today's event is providing a platform for dialogue on the role of diplomacy in addressing today's pressing global humanitarian challenges. We are delighted to partner with Doha Forum and join forces to transform the conversations into action." Featured panelists included HE Minister of State for International Cooperation Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater, HE Minister for International Development and the Minister for Women and Equalities and Minister for Development at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office of the UK Anneliese Dodds, and HE former Minister of State at the UK's Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office Lord Ahmad of Wimbledon. The MoU and panel discussion was held ahead of DF's annua l flagship event scheduled to be held in Doha on Dec. 7-8, 2024, under the patronage of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani. The WHF will attend this year's event, which will feature a number of high-level sessions on humanitarian diplomacy. The event will bring together global leaders, policymakers, thinkers and influencers to address the world's most pressing issues, under the theme "The Innovation Imperative." Doha Forum's mission is to provide a leading platform for policymakers, business leaders, civil society representatives, and other stakeholders to come together, exchange ideas, and work towards solutions for the most pressing issues facing our planet.
