Doctors Without Borders has warned that civilians in Sudan are suffering from horrific levels of violence and face repeated attacks and violations, more than a year after the start of fighting between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). In a report issued Monday, the organization indicated that the physical and psychological injuries resulting from violence were exacerbated by the collapse of the health system and the absence of an international response to the humanitarian situation, noting that people's access to life-saving medical care services was greatly affected by the lack of security, as well as the damage to the health facilities infrastructure. Doctors Without Borders called on both sides of the conflict to stop attacks on residential areas, allow safe passage, and protect infrastructure from further destruction and looting, urging them to stop "violence and violations" against civilians. UN and international calls are increasing to spare Sudan from a humanitarian catastrophe t hat could push millions to famine and death as a result of food shortages due to the armed conflict that has spread to 12 states out of 18 in the country, claiming the lives of thousands of civilians, and displaced and sought refuge for more than 10.7 million people inside and outside the country, as well as pushing around 25 million people, more than half of the population, to depend on international aid.
