Teams of Kuwait Diving Club and the Kuwait Olympic Committee on Saturday cleaned the coral reefs around Umm Al-Maradem island. Up to 50 divers took part in the operation, aimed at enhancing environmental awareness and affirming the national responsibility to preserve the marine environment, said Talal Al-Serhan, the club chair in remarks to KUNA. The divers, assisted by peers from the Coast Guards and the Ministry of Interior, removed plastic and metallic litter. Al-Serhan noted that the activity coincided with the International Olympic Day, marked by athletes and associations worldwide with diverse communities' actions. Source: Kuwait News Agency
