A meeting led by the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, Dr. Radwan Al-Rubai, reviewed strategies for enhancing the operations and activities of the General Directorate of Plant Protection. It focused on fortifying its programs related to pesticides and plant quarantine. The meeting focused on the plant protection report, discussing its activities, accomplishments, and future strategies, as well as the challenges encountered in executing its assigned duties to identify suitable solutions and interventions. The meeting reviewed the performance evaluation report of several departments specialized in the field of pesticides and plant quarantine, and their needs of technologies and equipment to study the possibility of providing them with modern devices in addition to what they possess, enabling them to keep pace with modern developments and technologies and enhance their role in serving the objectives for which they were established. The emphasis was placed on the interest in qualifying a nd training technical cadres specialized in the field of plant protection and pesticides in a way that enhances their activities and efforts in serving the agricultural sector and supporting the ministry's directions and programs to improve productivity and reach self-sufficiency.
