Dialogue Among Civilizations Discussed at Doha Book Fair

Doha: A symposium on "Dialogue of Civilizations and Religions in Promoting Family Cohesion" was held within the activities of the Cultural Salon at the 33rd Doha International Book Fair. Moderated by Dr. Nawzad Abdulrahman Al Hiti, the symposium saw the participation of the Vice Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue, Dr. Aisha Yousef Al Mannai, and Dr. Hind Mohamed Al Hammadi, a lecturer at the Community College. Dr. Aisha Al Mannai said that the Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue had addressed, during its annual and quarterly conferences, round tables and various activities, many topics that concern religions and were considered a common denominator between them. She added that the Center, during the sessions of the recent interfaith dialogue conference in Doha, discussed the importance of the family in religions and the importance of religious and educational values that societies must adhere to in order to achieve family integration and solidarity among family members, as well as discussing the role of religious institutions and civil society organizations in supporting the family. For her part, Dr. Hind Al Hammadi discussed the role of religious and cultural dialogue in enhancing family cohesion from the social aspect, as she explained that humans are social beings by nature, living among groups and interacting with others, and cannot live in isolation from them. Therefore, laws have been enacted that determine how humans should deal with each other, and interact with others to live in peace and achieve peaceful coexistence, which ultimately benefits society. Al Hammadi said that religious and civilizational dialogue is important for communication, understanding, bringing viewpoints closer, avoiding clashes and violence, confronting the problems and challenges facing societies, and developing sound and healthy relationships. On the other hand, the Knowledge Hall at the Doha International Book Fair witnessed a workshop entitled "Readi ng Is Another Life," presented by Munira Ali Hamad, a certified trainer in life and management skills, which discussed the importance of reading in building human beings.
