The Yemeni Standards, Metrology, and Quality Control Organization has destroyed goods and products that failed to meet the approved standard specifications in the capital cities of Sanaa, Hodeida, Sana'a, and Al-Rahida. Today, the authority announced the destruction of 8,442 mango juice and orange drink cartons in the capital's Sanaa and Sana'a governorate. This action was taken due to visible mold, blackening on the inner package covers, and rust caused by inadequate transportation. The report stated that at the Al-Rahida Control Center, 20 bags of smoked flavors intended for food use were destroyed. This action was taken because the bags had ruptured, leading to lumps in the product, rendering them unfit. The announcement indicated that within the General Office of the Authority, electricity and water meters were demolished for failing to meet the required specifications, specifically not passing technical tests related to "influencing factors and error curves." Additionally, 2,982 scales were destroyed because they were part of the goods banned from importation. Various strip meters were also disposed of for not meeting the technical test standards. In the Hodeidah governorate branch, a number of women's slipper boots were destroyed due to the presence of the word "majesty" on them and a sticker beneath them written in both Arabic and Hebrew. The Authority has confirmed that the destruction process was conducted in collaboration with customs, security services, and relevant authorities, by the law and the powers granted to the Authority, reflecting its commitment to consumer protection. The Yemeni Standardization and Metrology Organization (YSMO) emphasized the importance of compliance with standard specifications for the import and production of food, consumer goods, and products to guarantee the health and safety of citizens.
