Deputy Minister of Fisheries Taher Khater was briefed on Monday on the progress of work in the capital's central market for fish and aquatic life and the level of services provided to citizens in the market. Khater, along with Marketing Director Rajeh Tabaqa and Fish Extension Director Majid Al-Kahlani, listened to an explanation of the equipment witnessed in the market and the construction work being completed within the components of the market. During the visit, the Deputy Minister of Fisheries stressed the importance of encouraging investment in wholesale fish markets in order to enhance the competitiveness of the fish sector and contribute to achieving self-sufficiency, improving the quality of products and providing them at reasonable prices to consumers. He explained that the visit to the market was to listen to the views of the shop owners about their conditions and the difficulties they face, and the necessary directives that ensure the continuation of performing their business and reviving the w ork in the market and developing it during the coming period. He drew attention to the interest of the Supreme Political Council and the Ministry's leadership in addressing and correcting the conditions of existing fish markets, creating other markets with model specifications and standards, organizing the process of buying and selling aquatic organisms, controlling their quality, and encouraging their investment, import and marketing in the capital and the governorates, in keeping with the requirements of the local market and enhancing the role of the cooperative, private and mixed fish sector. Khater pointed out the Ministry's efforts aimed at developing the infrastructure for fish markets and providing an encouraging investment environment for investors in the wholesale and retail fish markets, by providing the necessary facilities and providing technical, technical and financial support for investment projects in this aspect, improving distribution and marketing mechanisms, and enhancing cooperation wit h the private sector and relevant local institutions Source: Yemen News Agency
