Democratic Party of Italy: It is time to recognize the State of Palestine

The Secretary General of the Democratic Party of Italy, Elly Schlein, said that "it is time to recognize the State of Palestine, as officially announced by European countries." According to Aki news agency, Schlein added, on Tuesday, on the sidelines of an electoral initiative in Catania (Sicily province): "We have seen that Spain and Norway have started to recognize the State of Palestine, and it is time for Italy to do so as well," stressing the importance of "recognizing the Palestinian state at the European level." The leader of the Democratic Party, the largest opposition party, added: "Recognizing the State of Palestine aims to help the peace process and the ceasefire that we have called for since October, while today there is a new attack on civilians in Rafah."
