RAMALLAH: The Council of Birzeit University said the Israeli occupation forces' incursion into the Birzeit University campus is a continuation of the occupation's systematic policy of sabotaging education in Palestine. In a press statement, the Council slammed his attack as a continuation of the occupation's crimes against the Palestinian people, and a new crime added to a long record of violations and crimes practiced by the occupation against Palestinian educational institutions. The occupation forces stormed the Birzeit University campus at dawn today, attacking the university guards and confiscating and tampering with the contents of the university's council. The Council considered the occupation's incursion into the university campus a major and clear violation of all international norms and conventions that criminalize the violation of the sanctity of universities and educational institutions. The Birzeit University stressed that such violations and assaults will not deter the university from contin uing its course and its quest to fulfill its academic, social and humanitarian role, calling to hold the occupation accountable for its crimes. The Birzeit University further called on international human rights and academic institutions to support its efforts to fulfill its educational mission.
