Minister of Communications Hiyam Al-Yasiri announced Iraq's success in regaining its membership in the Universal Postal Union. Al-Yasiri said in a statement by the Ministry; After Iraq's membership in the Universal Postal Union was canceled as a result of the failure of previous administrations to pay Iraq's financial contributions to the union, which resulted in a huge debt that led to the cancellation of Iraq's membership in the union, in addition to the accumulation of financial interest as a result of the delay in paying these debts, today this membership has been restored. She stressed that "the continuous follow-up, guidance and direct supervision resulted in achieving this material and moral achievement for Iraq thanks to the support of Prime Minister Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani and the tireless and persevering efforts made by the Director General of the Post and Savings Company and the company's staff." She added that; "We have been communicating with most of the world's administrations to convince th em to vote in favor of restoring Iraq's membership and dropping the late interest due on its debts." Al-Yasiri stressed "her continuation in implementing the strategy she adopted to restore the effectiveness of the Iraqi Post and restore the citizen's confidence in the government post again and introduce it to every Iraqi home."
