SALFIT: Israeli colonists Wednesday cut down about 100 olive trees from Palestinian citizens' lands in the village of Yasuf, east of Salfit. The incident has added tension to the region, already fraught with frequent confrontations during the olive harvesting season. According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Wael Abu Madi, head of the village council in Yasuf, reported that the colonists targeted the Al-Mashrafah area north of the village. The damaged trees, aged between 70 and 80 years, included some younger ones around 10 years old. The lands are owned by local residents Mahmoud Raja Abdel Fattah, Tariq Mutab Abdel Fattah, and Anwar Zahri Ayoub. The village of Yasuf has been subject to escalating violations in recent times, particularly during the olive picking season. These violations include the theft of olives and picking equipment, as well as attempts to assault and beat farmers, further exacerbating the situation for the local Palestinian community.
