Post: Colonists Enclose Water Springs with Concrete Blocks in Northern Jordan Valley

Khirbet al-Deir: Israeli colonists placed concrete blocks on Monday around several water springs in the Khirbet al-Deir area of the northern Jordan Valley. Omar Fuqaha, head of Ein al-Beida village council, reported that the colonists had installed the concrete blocks around certain springs, marking another effort to assert control over these water resources and restrict Palestinian access.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, colonists have been targeting the springs scattered across the border area, which Palestinians have traditionally used to irrigate their rain-fed crops every year. The encroachment on these vital water sources threatens the agricultural activities of Palestinian communities in the region.

The Israeli information center for human rights in occupied territories, B'Tselem, has highlighted that Israel has instituted a regime in this area that intensively exploits its resources, more so than in other parts of the West Bank. This exploitation is seen as a move towards the de facto annexation of the Jordan Valley and the northern Dead Sea area to the State of Israel.
