China's space station has achieved initial results in space medicine that will contribute to upcoming manned lunar landings and other deep space missions. The announcement was made at the Second Frontier Forum of Space Medicine, which kicked off in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, yesterday and will continue for two days. Space medicine plays an important role in promoting public health, providing theoretical support and a technical platform for research into cardiovascular and musculoskeletal systems, human aging, and drug preservation and screening. During the forum, experts and scientists exchange insights on the latest theories and development trends in space medicine, and discuss key topics such as ensuring extraterrestrial survival for astronauts on deep space exploration missions. At the forum's opening, deputy chief designer of China's manned space program and China's first taikonaut Yang Liwei said that the technical support of space medicine is an indispensable part of the application and developme nt stage of China's space station, and of the implementation of a manned lunar landing mission, both of which have ushered in new opportunities for the development of space medicine. For her part, Li Yinghui, a researcher from the China Astronaut Research and Training Center said "we will continue to improve our in-orbit protection capabilities and build up technical reserves for manned space exploration missions."
