China successfully launched a new remote sensing satellite into space, from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in the southwest of the country on Sunday. The Yaogan-42 02 satellite was launched on board a Long March-2D carrier rocket and entered the preset orbit. The satellite will be used to carry out scientific experiments, land resource surveys, crop yield estimates, disaster prevention and relief work. This launch represents the 517th mission of the Long March series of carrier rockets. It is worth noting that mission No. 516 of the Long March series of rockets was launched last Monday, carrying a remote sensing satellite on board a Long March-2D carrier rocket, from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China.
