An official source in the Central Bank of Yemen confirmed that the mechanism of compensating citizens in the occupied governorates for their savings of legal tender has achieved great success since its inauguration last Saturday. The source explained, in a statement to the Yemeni Agency (Saba), that the points of compensation set by the Central Bank of Yemen at the Al-Rahida Customs Control Center in Taiz Governorate and the Afar Customs Control Center in Al-Bayda Governorate, since last Saturday, until Wednesday, amounted to 183 compensation operations, during which an amount of 504 million and 576 thousand riyals of legal currency was received from citizens in the occupied governorates, and compensated in real terms in illegal currency in the amount of one billion and 727 million 814 thousand riyals. The source pointed out that the mechanism for compensating citizens in the occupied territories will resume its work after the Eid al-Adha holiday on Tuesday, June 25. "The turnout of citizens in the occupi ed provinces for compensation points expressed their high awareness and adherence to their rights," he said, noting that the mechanism launched by the Central Bank of Yemen protected citizens in the occupied provinces from an attempt to loot their savings by the so-called Central Bank of Aden.
