US Central Command (USCENTCOM) forces successfully destroyed two Iranian-backed Houthi missiles on launchers in a Houthi-controlled area of Yemen. In a statement late Wednesday, CENTCOM said it was determined these weapons presented an imminent threat to US, coalition forces, and merchant vessels in the region. These actions were taken to protect freedom of navigation and make international waters safer and more secure, it added. The US has been launching airstrikes against Houthi targets in Yemen since January 12, in retaliation for the militia's attacks, with the Houthis declaring that they consider some of the ships passing through the Red Sea linked with the Israeli occupation.
