Amman: The Southern Region of the Mauritanian Coast Guard announced that 25 people were killed and 103 illegal immigrants were rescued after their boat sank off the coast of Nouakchott. According to the Mauritanian News Agency, the commander of the southern region, Colonel Ma al-'Aynayn Sidi Hiba, explained that 10 of the rescued people required urgent medical assistance and were discharged from the hospital. He expected that in the coming days the sea will toss more victims of this ship, which started from Gambia through Senegal, and the number of passengers is estimated at about 140 passengers of different African nationalities, indicating that 65 Senegalese, including 6 women and 3 children, and 52 Gambians, including 3 women, 3 children, and a man from Côte d'Ivoire, have been counted so far.
