Bethlehem - MA'AN - Members of the Bethlehem City Council and employees strongly condemned the heinous attack by throwing a Molotov cocktail at the house of Bethlehem Mayor, Attorney Anton Salman, on the night of Friday, July 5, 2024. The Bethlehem City Council convened an emergency meeting on Saturday morning, July 6, 2024, to condemn this criminal act that exceeds all norms and red lines. They affirmed that the attack on the mayor is an attack on all the sons and daughters of Bethlehem and indicates weak souls and actions outside national standards aimed at stirring chaos and discord in the city of peace. They emphasized that such an attack will not deter them from continuing to serve and uphold law and order but rather strengthens their determination to work and develop. The municipal council expressed high confidence in the rule of law and security agencies to uncover the perpetrators and those behind them and to bring them to justice to face deterrent penalties.
