Belize Representative Calls for Recognition of State of Palestine and International Support

New york: The representative of Belize affirmed that recognizing the State of Palestine is a crucial and necessary step forward, emphasizing that it marks only the beginning of a broader effort.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, in a speech delivered before the United Nations, the Belize representative highlighted the importance of the international community providing support to establish and strengthen Palestinian institutions. These institutions are envisioned to govern a modern, democratic state coexisting with Israel within secure and recognized borders.

The representative urged the international community to address the worsening humanitarian situation in Gaza directly. There was an appeal for the global community to ensure the unhindered flow of humanitarian aid and to provide financial, material, and technical assistance to aid in reconstruction efforts.

However, he cautioned that achieving these goals requires a genuine political process. "Israel must come to the negotiating table," he stated, emphasizing the need to restore confidence in the region and the imperative that violence must first cease.
