Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka, the No. 2 seed, qualified for the semi-finals of the US Open, the final of the four Grand Slam tournaments of the year, after defeating seventh seed Zheng Qinwen of China in two sets to none. In the quarter-finals, last year's runner-up Sabalenka had no difficulty in defeating the Paris 2024 Olympic gold medalist Zheng (6-1 6-2( to secure her place in the semi-finals of the US Open for the fourth consecutive time. Sabalenka will next play American Emma Navarro, who had qualified for the semi-finals for the first time in her career after defeating Spanish Paula Badosa in two sets to none (6-2 and 7-5).
