President of the Jordan Olympic Committee (JOC), Prince Faisal bin Al Hussein, Saturday sponsored the opening of the U17 and U23 Asian Freestyle and Romanian Wrestling Championships. The Championship is held in the Princess Sumaya Hall in Al Hussein Youth City with more than 450 male and female players from 20 countries. Wrestlers competed in the Romanian wrestling category under 17 years, weighing 45, 48, 51, 55, 60, 92 and 110 kg. The President of the Jordanian Wrestling Federation, Muhammad Awamleh, said Jordan's hosting of the Championship "affirms the [Jordan Wrestling] Federation's great organisational success in several continental and international championships held in Amman." International Wrestling Federation member Zamil Shahrani praised the Jordan Wrestling Federation's efforts "that has reached the level of creativity and innovation when organising continental and international championships."
