The Bin Hayyan - Aqaba International Laboratories, affiliated with the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA), have achieved a significant milestone as the first entity in Jordan and the region to receive international accreditation from the UK-based Legionella Control Association. This accreditation allows them to assess and analyze the risks of Legionella bacteria in water systems within tourist and healthcare facilities. Dr. Ayman Suleiman, Commissioner for Environment and Natural Reserves at ASEZA, told the Jordan News Agency (Petra) that this achievement reflects Bin Hayyan Laboratories' commitment to continuous development and keeping pace with the latest global technologies in laboratory analysis related to both food safety and environmental standards. He added that Bin Hayyan - Aqaba International Laboratories is now the first internationally accredited Jordanian entity in this field, which enhances the quality of services they offer and their leading role in protecting public health and sup porting tourism and regulatory sectors. Suleiman praised the efforts of the laboratories' Air and Water Quality Measurements team, whose dedication led to the renewal of this British international accreditation, strengthening the laboratories' position as a trusted authority in analyzing and evaluating Legionella risks in tourist and healthcare facilities. This also boosts confidence in their capabilities at the local and regional levels. For his part, Muwaffaq Al-Khashman, Director of the Laboratories, emphasized the laboratories' constant pursuit of excellence and development. He noted that the British international accreditation marks a significant step in their journey to providing top-tier analytical services in line with the highest international standards. Al-Khashman added that Bin Hayyan Laboratories continue to play a pivotal role in supporting the tourism and regulatory sectors, maintaining water security, and contributing to the overall quality of the tourism and healthcare sectors in Aqaba, as well as across the Kingdom and the region.
