Hebron: Armed Israeli colonists launched a series of attacks on Palestinian houses in the at-Tabaqa village, located southwest of the occupied West Bank city of Hebron, on Saturday evening. The assaults have intensified tensions in the region, as reported by a WAFA correspondent. Armed colonists invaded the village, discharging gunfire towards residential homes, which resulted in a 63-year-old woman experiencing severe panic. According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the attackers originated from the colonial outpost of Negohot, which is established on the lands of the Khallet Taha area. Concurrently, in the Tuwas area west of Dura, armed colonists targeted Palestinian farmers, obstructing their agricultural activities and compelling them to vacate their farmlands at gunpoint. Simultaneously, colonists, supported by the Israeli army, infiltrated several neighborhoods in the Old City of Hebron. This occurred as occupation forces intensified movement restrictions, blocking Palestinian access to numerous roads and entrances leading to the area. Hebron, home to the Ibrahimi Mosque, comprises approximately 160,000 Palestinian Muslims and about 800 aggressive Israeli settlers residing in heavily fortified compounds protected by around 1,500 Israeli troops. The expulsion of the only international monitors safeguarding Hebron's Palestinians from the 800 heavily protected settlers marks a significant setback for the local Palestinian community, particularly following the 1994 massacre that prompted their initial deployment. Violence perpetrated by colonists against Palestinians and their properties is a regular occurrence in the West Bank and often goes unpunished by Israeli authorities. The range of violence includes property and mosque arsons, stone-throwing incidents, destruction of crops and olive trees, and attacks on vulnerable homes, among other transgressions. Currently, over 700,000 Israeli colonists reside in settlements across the West Bank and East Jerusalem, further escalating the content ious dynamics in the region.
