Chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Maj Gen Yousef Huneiti Sunday said the Jordanian army is ready to defend the Kingdom's borders and is modernising its equipment and weapons. During a field visit at a military area north of the Kingdom, Huneiti was briefed on logistical and operational aspects and training, especially for army units tasked with defending the borders and combating cross-border smuggling. Separately, Huneiti visited the Royal Border Guard Battalion/8 affiliated with the Southern Military Region and was briefed on their assigned tasks and duties. During both his visits, he discussed harnessing military and technological capabilities to confront current threats and focusing on employing various weapons to serve the armed forces' mission.
