Archbishop of Malta holds mass for peace in the Holy Land

The Archbishop of Malta Charles Scicluna held a mass at St. Paul's Cathedral in the city of Mdina, Malta, as part of a conference of Catholic churches, calling for peace in the Holy Land. Bishops from 40 European countries participated in the mass, in the presence of the Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Malta, Fadi Hanania. He stressed the importance of shedding light on Palestine to the world as the cradle of all three monotheistic religions, given the values of peace and love it carries. The archbishop stressed the need to maintain hope in light of the violence, hatred, frustration, and fear that the Holy Land is experiencing. 'As Christians, we must believe in the power of the seeds of goodness that exist in every human being, so that we can build a better future,' he said. For his part, Ambassador Hanania conveyed the greetings of the Palestinian leadership and the people to Archbishop Scicluna, appreciating his support for peace and justice efforts in light of the difficult circumstances tha t Palestine is experiencing, especially at the birthplace of Christ, the city of Bethlehem, which will not witness Christmas celebrations this year, limiting them only to religious rituals.
