CAIRO, The Arab Parliament called on Tuesday for increase international efforts to battle hate speech and taking strategic steps to decrease this heinous act globally. President of the Arab Parliament Adel Al-Asoomi, in a statement marking International Day for Countering Hate Speech, said that the world needed more advance and rapid steps to refute remarks and acts of hate speech especially in the Middle East and specifically in the Palestinian territories. Hate speech contribute to acts of violence and tension around the world and the way to counter that was to proliferate mediation and dialogue, he affirmed. He indicated that internet and the digital domains were grounds to spread hatred against women, minorities, refugees and those vulnerable, stressing that efforts must be taken to prevent such acts.
