CAIRO: The Arab Parliament condemned in strongest terms a statement made by Argentine President Javier Milley regrading moving his country's embassy from Israel, the occupying power, to Jerusalem, stressing that the legal, historical and religious status of the city of Jerusalem is not subject to review. The Arab Parliament said such step is considered a blatant violation of International law and international legitimacy resolutions, noting it is also considered a blatant violation of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people. The Parliament, in a statement, stressed that such step would undermine the two-state solution and encourage the occupying forces and extremist colonists to continue their attacks on the Palestinian people and Christian and Islamic sanctities in the occupied city of Jerusalem. The Parliament also called on the Argentine President to rescind this decision, which would consolidate the reality of the occupation, encouraging him to follow the position of the South American countrie s that defend the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital. The Arab Parliament affirmed that any step in this direction explicitly contravenes the decisions of the United Nations General Assembly and the UN Security Council, and is considered null and void and has no legal effect. The Parliament urgently called on the international community to pressure the Argentine government to renege on this step and to adhere to international law and the relevant international legitimacy resolutions.
