CAIRO, Secretary-General of the Arab League Ahmad Abul-Gheit praised the efforts made by Qatar, Egypt and the United States to reach a permanent ceasefire, allow humanitarian aid to enter Gaza and release prisoners and detainees from both sides. Commenting on the initiative made by US President Joe Biden to reach a ceasefire, Abul-Gheit said in a statement on Tuesday that it was necessary for the Israeli aggressors to abide by the new proposal. The catastrophic humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip caused by the Israeli aggression require to deal with the proposition to end the aggression, stopping the suffering of Palestinian civilians, allow humanitarian aid to enter the Strip and rebuild what the war destroyed, he added. He stressed on the complete withdrawal of the Israeli aggression forces from the Gaza Strip, return the displaced persons to their homes, and launch the reconstruction process in the framework of implementing two-state solutions. President Biden unveiled a new proposal last Friday, for a ceasefire consisting of three stages, a temporary six-week ceasefire -turned into a permanent ceasefire- and the beginning of the reconstructions of Gaza, also increasing humanitarian aid to 600 truck per day.
