Algeria has commenced its pre-election silence period today, which will extend for three days until voting begins in the presidential elections scheduled for next Saturday. This electoral silence period, mandated by Algerian election law, requires a suspension of all campaign-related activities. During this time, citizens, journalists, and politicians are prohibited from engaging in any actions or communications intended to sway voters' opinions or decisions. The presidential election campaign, which started on Aug.15 and lasted for 20 days, was conducted in accordance with Algerian election regulations. Article 74 of the election law stipulates that "the electoral campaign is open 23 days before the election date and ends three days before the election day." The candidates competing for the presidency include the incumbent President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, leader of the Movement of Society for Peace (MSP) party Abdelali Hassani Cherif, and the first secretary general of the Front of Socialist Forces (FFS) p arty Youcef Aouchiche.
