On the occasion, Al Wakrah Municipality Director Eng. Mohammed Hassan Al Nuaimi said that this inauguration comes within the framework of enhancing institutional partnerships with the private sector to meet the aspirations and serve the needs of all segments of society, including the visually impaired. He added that it enhances the quality of life and the implementation of joint initiatives and projects adhering to the highest environmental sustainability standards, promoting eco-friendly practices, along with developing beaches and their service facilities to enable visitors, including those with disabilities, to benefit from them. In turn, project supervisor Eng. Its implementation began in 2022 through the establishment of a special sea walkway that connects people with mobility disabilities and the elderly to the closest point to the sea using environmentally friendly materials according to international standards. The project supervisor added that the project agrees with one of the basic provisions of the Al Wakra Initiative to reduce carbon emissions in the city of Al Wakrah, in addition to its support for the 'Al Wakra is Disabled Friendly' initiative, which serves the goals of sustainable development and the Qatar National Vision 2030. Eng. Soha added that the new waterfront promenade's information signs were made using recycled materials and display information in the Braille tactile writing system for the visually impaired, the first of its kind in the region and comes in the framework of the Ministry of M unicipalitys strategy of building sustainable cities and humanizing them. In April 2022, Al Wakrah Municipality inaugurated a sustainable waterfront promenade for people with disabilities and the elderly, equipped with high-quality sustainability services, which was well received and visited by members of the general public and the targeted categories.
