Doha: Al Wakrah SC announced Saturday the appointment of Ali Rahma Al Marri as the new head coach of the first football team, succeeding Spaniard Miguel Angel. Al Marri previously managed Al Wakrah at the end of last season, leading the team to win their first-ever Qatar Cup title after defeating Al Rayyan 1-0 at Abdullah Bin Khalifa Stadium. Before that, he served as the assistant coach to Spanish manager Marquez Lopez, who headed the technical staff before taking over the Qatari national team. Al Marri will officially take charge of Al Wakrah again starting from their match against Al Rayyan, scheduled for Sunday at Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium as part of the matchday 5 of the Ooredoo Stars League.
