Al-Sudani stresses the need to reflect population policy on Ministries’ plans

Baghdad, Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani stressed the necessity of reflecting the population policy in the Ministries’ plans, in a way that contributes to raising the indicators of education, health, work and housing.

The Prime Minister’s Media Office said in a statement, “The Prime Minister, Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, chaired today, Sunday, a meeting of the Supreme Population Council, during which the issues on the agenda were discussed, and some recommendations were made.”

The statement added, "The meeting discussed completing the implementation of the General Population and Housing Census, and presented the recommendations issued by the coordination meeting between the countries of the Arab Council for Population and Development, in addition to procedures for following up the implementation of the National Population Policy Document (2023).

The statement indicated, "It was recommended to pay attention to facilitating the requirements of people with special needs, in all state institutions, in line with what was stated in the government program regarding the provision of care, administrative reforms, and service provision."

The statement explained, "It was recommended to support the work of the Child Welfare Authority and the Authority for People with Disabilities and Special Needs, as well as developing the capabilities of reproductive health service providers in health institutions."

The meeting recommended supporting the implementation of the National Strategy for School Health in secondary schools for boys and girls, in addition to allocating appropriate funding from the Reconstruction and Development Fund to support the implementation of development programs concerned with the axes of population policy.
