The leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, called on the Iraqi parliament to legislate a special law for Eid al-Ghadir, while calling for unified prayer. Al-Sadr said in a comment: 'The Iraqi Parliament must legislate a law that makes Eid al-Ghadir the eighteenth of the month of Dhu al-Hijjah, an official public holiday for all Iraqis, regardless of their affiliation and belief.' In turn, Saleh al-Iraqi, Al-Sadr's spokesman published a statement to support al-Sadr's call to hold a unified prayer after the end of the annual commemoration of Eid al-Ghadir, calling on Friday imams to make their sermons supportive of this decision and calling on those he described as 'conscious' pens to educate about it in a way that pleases God and without attacking anyone through social networking sites, and raising Eid al-Ghadir flags from now until al-Ghadir Day and activating a unified hashtag: #Eid_Ghadir_Iraqi_Holiday.
