Doha: Al-Raya newspaper praised, in its editorial today, Qatar's distinguished history of multilateral international cooperation and generous humanitarian aid, especially for refugees, displaced persons, and those affected by armed conflicts and natural disasters around the world. The newspaper emphasized Qatar's pivotal role in supporting the noble humanitarian efforts of UN organizations working in this field, particularly given the challenges and turmoil the world faces today, such as wars, conflicts, persecution, and the effects of climate change, which have forced millions of people into forced displacement and seeking refuge for protection and assistance. Al-Raya highlighted Qatar's efforts and contributions to reducing increasing humanitarian needs in emergency situations, supporting specialized UN programs in reconstruction, and other sustainable development projects related primarily to health, education, and food in conflict zones. The newspaper also emphasized the role of Qatari humanitarian and charitable institutions and organizations, which also support the work of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and help it implement its programs and humanitarian mission to protect refugees and promote their rights. The paper added that Qatar, based on its belief in the importance of enhancing international solidarity in facing global crises, has ensured it remains one of the main supporters of the United Nations, its agencies, and international humanitarian organizations in aiding refugees and displaced persons worldwide. Al-Raya affirmed Qatar's commitment to assisting South Sudan due to the severe humanitarian conditions the country is experiencing, which have led to widespread displacement and loss of livelihoods for many. In this context, a delegation from the Qatar Fund, Qatar Red Crescent, and the International Committee of the Red Cross visited South Sudan to oversee humanitarian activities and distribute aid to Sudanese refugees and returnees from South Sudan. The newspaper stressed that Qatar will continue its humanitarian efforts for those affected by events in South Sudan and is committed to leveraging all its resources and expertise to implement relief programs with precision and efficiency. Al-Raya concluded that Qatar is now renowned for its effective humanitarian and relief work for refugees, the affected, and the distressed across the globe, thanks to the initiatives of its wise leadership and its strategic vision.
