Al Raya Calls on International Community to Protect the Region from Israeli Occupation Government

Doha: Al Raya newspaper called on the international community to rein in Israel's war machine and protect the future of the region and the world from members of Israel's extremist government, who seek to destroy the region and ethnically cleanse the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples. The newspaper highlighted that Israel's arrogance and criminal actions are pushing the region to the edge. After causing unprecedented destruction, killing, and displacement in Gaza for almost a year, Israel is now intensifying its crimes in Lebanon, which faces a brutal assault and escalating violence that has placed the regions security and stability at a critical juncture. The editorial pointed out that Israel, with its ground incursion into Lebanon, aims to impose a new reality by occupying another Arab state. Israeli bombardments with thousands of tons of explosives, targeting civilian infrastructure, homes, and border crossings, are designed to inflict maximum damage on civilians. This mirrors the same collective punishmen t tactics used in Gaza, aiming to terrorize civilians and achieve political gains through military victories, despite the recognition that a military solution will not break the resilience of the people of Palestine and Lebanon. Al Raya stressed that the world is holding its breath due to the deterioration of the situation, as Israeli authorities continue to cross red lines without concern for the consequences of their war crimes. The newspaper noted that Israel repeatedly escapes accountability for its violations of international law, predicting chaos in the region. The editorial praised Qatar's position, which emphasized that a military solution will not bring peace or security to the region or Israel. Instead, lasting peace can only be achieved through a just solution to the Palestinian issue based on international legitimacy, which guarantees the establishment of a Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, along the 1967 borders. Pursuing a military path will only lead to continued escalatio n and conflict, prolonging a state of perpetual war. The newspaper concluded by saying that Lebanon is facing brutal enemy, and that diplomatic efforts were close to achieving a ceasefire based on the American-French proposal, but were thwarted by the Israeli extremist government that chose to escalate, seeking to blackmail the world and force the region into a comprehensive regional war from which no one will emerge victorious.
