Acting Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, confirmed today, Sunday, Iraq's readiness to cooperate with Somalia in the security, commercial and agricultural fields. A statement from his media office stated that Al-Mandalawi received, today, Sunday, in the Council building, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Somalia, Hamza Abdi Barre, and the ministerial delegation accompanying him, in the presence of a number of heads and members of committees and parliamentary blocs. During the meeting, according to the statement, Al-Mandalawi stressed the importance of this visit to strengthen bilateral relations, and Iraq today is ready to open broad horizons for cooperation with the State of Somalia, with which we have great historical relations, noting that brotherly Somalia is a country rich in natural resources that need Arab and international support to invest them in the required manner. The two sides agreed, according to the statement, to establish a new mechanism to activate the work of the Joint Parliamentary Friendship Committee, and to coordinate positions in Arab, regional and international forums, while Al-Mandalawi affirmed Iraq's readiness to cooperate with Somalia in the security, educational, commercial and agricultural fields, especially in light of the presence of memorandums of understanding that support such trends that contribute in the interest of the two brotherly peoples, he extended an official invitation to the President of the Somali People's Assembly to visit Baghdad.
