Head of the State of Law Coalition Nouri al-Maliki stressed Iraq's keenness to strengthen cooperation ties with Kuwait in various fields, especially security, in light of the historical relations. The Coalition stated in a statement: "Al-Maliki met in his office today with the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense and Interior of the State of Kuwait, Sheikh Fahd Youssef Saud Al-Sabah." The meeting reviewed bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries, in addition to discussing the latest developments in the region.
