Riyadh: Saudi football club Al Ittihad announced Wednesday the signing of Algerian player Houssem Aouar from AS Roma for a four-year contract. The signing ceremony took place at the team's training camp in Alicante, Spain, with the club's CEO Domingos De Oliveira and the player, in the presence of the sports director Ramon Planes. Oliveira welcomed the new player, expressing his hope that Aouar, along with his teammates, will help achieve the performance and results that Al Ittihad's fans are looking for, aiming for a better league standing next season after a disappointing previous season where the team finished fifth, 42 points behind champions Al Hilal. Last Saturday, Al Ittihad appointed Frenchman Laurent Blanc as the new head coach, following the termination of the contract with former coach Marcelo Gallardo at the beginning of July, after a disappointing season across various competitions.
