Doha: May 26 - Al Gharafa coach, Pedro Martins, expressed his happiness for receiving the Best Coach Award in the Qatar Football Association (QFA) Awards Ceremony for the 2023-2024 season, held at the Qatar National Convention Center (QNCC) on Sunday, adding that this award serves as a great motivation for him and the team in the upcoming season. Martins told Qatar News Agency that this award is the fruit of the entire club's tremendous efforts during this tough season, which saw Al Gharafa advance significantly and present an outstanding performance, in which they competed for the league's title, reaching the semi-finals in both the Qatar and HH the Amir Cups. The Portuguese coach explained that Al Gharafa faced many challenges this season, having aspired to win the league and indeed managing to lead the standings at times, however, the team stumbled and lost some points in the final rounds, giving Al Sadd the opportunity to clinch the title. Martins affirmed that the difference was minimal between the com peting teams, namely Al Sadd, Al Rayyan, Al Gharafa, and Al Wakrah. Al Gharafa's coach concluded his statement by thanking the Qatar Football Association and the Qatar Stars League for their great efforts during the season, wishing everyone success in the future.
